I was responsible for cinematography and editing for this video and installation work by Müge Yilmaz. The piece parallels the artist’s journey to Dutch citizenship with the tulip’s historical migration to the Netherlands, exploring themes of belonging, exclusion, and in-betweenness.

The 15-minute video combines personal narrative, science fiction, and humor, featuring plant-human hybrids and reflections on cultural integration. Visually, my approach emphasized the surreal and poetic qualities of these hybrid identities, creating a dialogue between organic textures and futuristic elements.

Through the editing process, I worked closely with the artist to craft a rhythm that oscillates between intimacy and estrangement, supporting the conceptual tension between displacement and rootedness.
